True Devotion

As I sit here, the house is all quiet
I find myself thinking of you, again
Remembering, when you and I
Were still together and at one time
As happy as a man and wife
Could ever have been
The pain has faded quite a bit
Still, sometimes it returns again
Causing this heart to ache
As it did when I left you that day
I remember the words you once said
That had touched my heart so deeply
I still wonder what I might have done
To make you stop loving me
It wasn’t as easy to turn my love off
The way it seemed to have been for you
It has taken me all of this time
To get over loving you like I did
My heart was closed the day I left
I have no desires left in me
To ever love someone again
The way I had always loved you
You had become my whole life
Then, you damaged this heart so bad
There is a fear deep inside of me
Of feeling the such devotion
I once so freely gave to you
A devotion that was always true
When you stopped loving me
There is one thing you forgot to do
You failed to give me back my heart

aaww Chickie,  Sorry this happened to you, but who knows what will happen to you, life can go in circles but in the end, things will work out, i just know it, I felt this with my first love stephen and he turned out to be someone that hurt me deeply, and it took me a while, but just take timeout and then go from there, thats my advice to you, thanks for sharing, good write.

Poetry can get you very far

Oh, Sue, this was one of the most eloquent spills from your heart and soul that I have had the pleasure of reading. Far too many of us have been where you are! ~ and as you are learning, it does get better! ~ but those memories can still pop up and blind-side us when we least expect it.

A very moving piece of writing ~ and piece of your heart.

Hugs with love,
Linda

Thank you all for reading, and for your very kind replies. My heart still aches at times. Not as much as it use to. But, every now and then, everything seems to surface, again.

It is within these quiet moments,
when you are finding just yourself...

that you light up everyone else.

Believe me, you will come to treasure
these soul-filled moments.
