Surprised, I knew,
like a tickling sneeze,
twitching in my nose.
I saw your eyes,
so much like mine...
(yes, I think they were my own.)

How can this be?
An Autumn breeze,
dusting blood-sweat from my brow...
I need to build
a kite to fly
if I can remember how.

Calloused feet,
stifling heat--
we need a blanket spread.
There--a magnolia,
come, and I'll show you
a place to rest your head.

Autumn breeze,
don't tease me, please,
(we both know it's July)
Two pairs of feet
grip hot streets
as four eyes search the sky.

This moment now
let's make no vows
while these Autumn breezes blow...
I'll be content
with no intent
of malice when you go.

Changes of season
are instinct--not reason--
let us build a kite and float,
before winter freezes,
turn sweet breezes
into cold familiar snow.

Then I'll desire
the heat of a fire,
searching for a warmer coat.
Shivering, remembering,
how Autumn breezes blow.

"How can this be?

You'll remember...it's like this:

It’s in a grace that feels the pull
though just a string it catches fold
of how the current speaks like dance
and hand on small of back just so
seduces the movement into flow

Serenity
Thank you for posting this....

"Autumn breeze,
don't tease me, please,
(we both know it's July)"

The heat broke here a little, was 53 this morning, and I swear the breeze had the scent of autumn in it....perhaps it was the lower humidity that made it fresh on the skin, like  the air on an October day.

but "we both know it is July"
and the heat is not over,
not complaining, mind you
after all,
Relief does not exist without discomfort..

enjoyed

Aye, you dare not...
lest you curse the day
with a sound...

I'm glad that ice wrote...
that we were able to see this, again...

and Martie's words, too!

Love ya lady~

Something tugs at me, I've no doubt of that.
Something from the sea, whichever one I'm near.
When I stray too far from beachland, it calls me back

regardles of the intent of what is behind this write, Karen, this is most beautiful and eloquent and it truly meant so very much to me this morning, as well.  Thank you.

Karen, I don't know how many times I may have told you this before,
but this is my favorite of yours now. I'm going to keep it in my
Serenity folder, so I can find it quicker. It felt like a breathe
of fresh air came floating by. Thank you for sharing your talents with us.
Heart Hugs,
Ethel
