Hands
(for Midnitesun, who already knows)

Hands have eyes that feel.
Hands have fingers that can hear.
Hands can hold
things that can't be touched.
Music is the universal language.
How much more the song of hands,
the talk of hands,
the touch of hands.
Hands can even say much more
than spoken language can convey.

It felt funny, coming home so late,
the sounds of people coming home,
Listening to the crickets
chirping their non-verbal song,
the soft and muggy summer night.

I'm smiling here, humming a Beatles tune.
Thanking you, amigo. This is exactly what I needed to read today, Jaime.

Ah Jaime, thank you...

One of the things I first notice
when watching people...

are their hands.

Into which, this poem should be held,
a Keeper.

This is so true Jaime, the hands can be our midnight eyes.  This puts me in mind of an episode of Willand Grace, go figure?  In it, Will is lined up and has a blind date with a man that is blind.  Well...the blind man ends the date because he says he got stuck with a "dog" after feeling Will's face, and of course our Will goes banannas as he thinks himself gorgeous!  Okay, you had to be there I guess but it was so funny.  Anyway, to cut to the bottom line here "finally," when the blind man felt Will's face, the first thing I thought of was you, and how incredibly strong you are in mind and spirit, to see beyong exteriors.  We should all have a bit of that in us I think *winking*
