Exposed

Copyright 2005 by:  Mark V Sheldon

Somebody told me to keep my eye on you
They saw something you kept out of view
You thought it was hidden -- so perfectly concealed
But the more that you hide -- the more is revealed…

You’ve been exposed
For all to see
You’ve been exposed
Don’t lie to me
You’ve been exposed
So there’s no use
Now you’re exposed
And I know the truth

You thought you were clever -- that no one would know
All smoke and mirrors -- all talk and show
Living two lives -- one behind the scenes
Your secret’s discovered, and you know what that means

You’ve been exposed
For all to see
You’ve been exposed
Don’t lie to me
You’ve been exposed
So there’s no use
Now you’re exposed
And I know the truth

Yep, it happens all to often, and sometimes it is to late when we find out the truth.
very well written Mark.

Ethel, it sure does.  Thanks for the read & reply.

DIxie:  not pleasant, is it?

Gentle Spirit:  I guess "too late" is relative, but as long as we learn from the experience, I suppose we'll be the better for it.  Thanks for your thoughts.

Hi Nancy, thank you for your encouraging words.  We've probably all felt such an "ouch" at one time or another...

Right you are, Karilea.  I haven't set it to music yet but will in the next couple of weeks.

Most definitely lyrical material... Well written and a pleasure to read. I know where this is coming from, indeed.

excellent write ...

     speaks volumes!!

sometimes we look at how truth effects others ....

all that really matters is what it means to us ...

no, not pleasant at all, but in the end, it's the best feeling in the world to finally see the truth and be able to move on

had to read this again because it fits so well into a situation I've had recently

the internet is a playground for these kinds of people, because it's not so easy to be exposed here online

JesusChristPose:  Thank you for the kind words (and my apologies for the delayed acknowledgement!).

Hey Ct:  Thank you much.  But I think that our actions matter not only to us but also the consequence it brings onto others, and for that, we must claim responsibility.

Hi Startime55:  I appreciate your read and comments.

Dixie;  Ohhhhhh yeah.  But whether they like it or not, it's metaphysical law that the Truth will always surface.  So it's better to be truthful upfront and avoid the unnecessary unpleasantries, wasted time, energy, and efforts.  Sorry to hear about your experience, but you're right -- it is good to come to terms, learn from it, and move on a better human being.  Thanks for your thoughts...

uh oh
and here I thought
changing my hair color would suffice!
nope, even that can't cover my vice!

LOL, whatever the inspiration for this was, being exposed is a revealing experience

Mark..although I'm not on here much anymore, you remain a name I look for when I stop by for I know I can count on you for wonderful meter and rhyme inside a well composed poem. This is no exception

Kacy...  I suppose some kinds of exposures (like 24 or 36...) are not so bad afterall...

Hi Ruth:  I am humbled and smiling from your warm words -- thank you for your support and encouragement.  I appreciate your appreciation very much.
