Winds of brutality
have battered my body
weathering rational thought.
Rendering me unable to process
this that surrounds me.

I try too hard not to remember
those gone before me.
The voices I used to take for granted
the comfort of someone knowing me.
The darkness of simply gone.

I painted myself into a corner
of madness without so much as a clue.
Insanity of not caring and wanting
nothing from anyone,

then came you.

From your own corner
of a mind so settled
by the winds that ripped through;
shuttered and boarded

the common of what we knew.

Still we treaded
bringing with us
the burden of lessons learned.

Finding,

dust settles,
winds cease,
and this thing that surrounds,
this that I feel for you,
still confounds.

Yet I am speechless at the intensity
of how quickly it made me want…

more than a dark corner.

My favorite part. Love this.

Funny how that works...isn't it?
