The advancing storm echoed around the valley
Darkness draining the blue sky of white hope
Lightning shocking the neutral dry ground
Sending trees to twisting, convulsion of death.

Splinters whirled, scattered among the wind
Leaving leaves trashed among the landscape
Roar crash, the thunder did lash its whip
Electrifying welts upon the naked virgin land.

A mist did fall gently as to not engage fire
Sometimes moving upward into gravities face
Elevating into swirling dances of independence
To only, be defeated and thrown down in failure.

As the ground thirsted its lips of sheer desires
The pleasure did plunge into the valley floor
The glossing did change color, in a novel glow
Taking dull shadows into slippery slides.

Growl smash, rocks did explode, crashing below
Sculpture of nature’s mighty changing scenes
Bounce here, to bounce there, to dislodge another
Like a pool game gone awry in vertical play.

The mood did change as animals bailed out
To parachute into retreats that offered resistance
Boom creak, the tree lifelines grew no more
Boom simmer, the creek did boil, as fish floated

The sheets did arrive to cover the virgin over
Drowning her as a wicked wench, only to find
A valley of resilience fighting for its breath
Her determination fought for every inch of survival.

The wailing did cry foul, as animal’s begged mercy
Relentless was the fury, relentless was the land
The battle waged until the truce did fall quiet
As the virgin reclaimed her domain, torn apart.

The valley grew bright upon the rainbow’s delight
The pot of gold she claimed was one of smiles
The animals did dance to see things sprouting
Where once the elm did stand tall, upon the sky.

The rocks dislodged offered one side to moss
While in cracks, wild flowers did now bloom
As she did her gardening, soon the signs of war
Where a distant memory of her worst fears.
