Avoid the season's cheer
not the sense of anti-social
humbug isn't his word
doesn't avoid Xmas shoppers
nor does he tuck his head inside
hidden from street view
a call to lock shutters

He knows the commercial din
spend thrift rituals
deplete the mind
for lack of sincerity
knows the false commaradarie
job parties avoided
their politics null and void
sees through the sham
what work places really are
I use you, you use me
no Xmas party...
no sock on the chimney
avoid the toasted roast
employee boast
inflated egos
on a run for the bottle
avoid the season's cheer
Xmas parties far and near...

Sometimes those office parties are boring, and sometimes, they are fun. I've been to both kinds over the years, but always hope that only those who WANT to be there go, rather than participate out of some sense of dutifulness. I've probably stayed home for more than I've attended.
But a Pips holiday party? WHERE? WHEN? It would be some crazy fun. LOL

Ahhhh! the party that soon will be here,
many will attend. Rather for the food or drink or just for a good time. Some will attend in hopes to look good in the boss's eye or to make a fool of themselves.

This is good one Martin.

:-)

I agree with Midnitesun -- both kinds.  But, I certainly know the kind you're talking about....got two of them within the next week....eeeek.  I prefer to savor the entire season in front of my fireplace with a glass of port!

I'd rather have a Pip holiday party..then think about looking good if the boss shows up...

I agree with you, a PIP party would be something!  I'd even give up my fireplace scene for that.  The parties I'm going to are for my hushand's work and a friend of his from work and, of course, I don't know anyone and .... yadayadayada....yawn.!

I myself am pretty much a loner, anti-social, "out-going when I have to be" type of person

the holidays can be depressing for some people, because of memories and losses and such

Have you mounted a big long antenna somewhere, and tuned it precisely to the pattern of my thoughts? We got us some circumstantial evidence right here....
