An Honest Confession
By Larry Chadwick

If I choose to own my mistakes,
Is there need to live it once more?
Or would it be a carbon copy,
Of all the things I did before?

If I am content with who I am,
Why go back to where it began?
Would there be any purpose,
To my trying to do it again?

So why can I not accept,
The mistakes that are made by you?
What entitles me to a double standard,
When I make mistakes too?

I could spend more time,
Focusing just on me.
But it is past indulgent,
Since I like who I have come to be.

And the truth about you is,
I like who you are too.
So it is time that I ignore,
The mistakes that I see you do.

For the errors that you have collected,
And made you who you have become;
Are as valuable as my own,
And the foolish things I have done.

The fact is I love you with all my heart,
So I will let the baggage go.
Just thought it time to tell you so,
Because you have a right to know.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Ah, 'tis true, 'tis true. We should be more accepting of others ~ and ourselves. Nothing is gained by revisiting our past mistakes. ~ been there, done that! lol Onward and upward! Let's get on with our next mistakes and put them behind us as well!

There is great depth in your writing and yet you manage to do that in a very effective, straight-forward manner.

Love & Light,
Linda

Martie,
It took me a long time to recognize both sides of this subject. Poor Nancy Lee. Been there for several years now. And thank you friend.

Thank you Dixie.

Sharon,
Thank you. Odd why it should take so long to admit, eh?

Linda,
Thank you dear girl. For 'tis true. It's just that some of us are slow learners.

Krawdad,
Thank you sir. You are soooo right.

Is that a confession? LOL Thanks...

James,
And you're not the Lone Ranger. Thank you sir.
