at last
success
the vital zero

stoic sages
Zen teachers
philosophers
practicing yoga

an all together
in sum
times nothing

the calm nil
a placid non
the vacant un
where more nothing grows

not sadness
sorrow
hope
or joy

empty yes
the final no

hmmmmm - very esoteric- and interesting read-

Susan

Happiness isn't something that happens to you, it's created from within you.  Joy is a state of mind.

Well if you're going to put my name in a title, you're certainly going to get my attention.

(It's a common enough name, so need to explain, but I am curious as to the relationship to the poem--which reads as a koan explained, to my point of view.)

I'd read with interest some of the exchange between you and Kacy regarding Buddhism as well, and I was wondering if you'd indulge me with further explanation on this'n.

Karen Ann,

My apologies if I caused any distress.

For some reason, (not all that obscure),
I seem at times particularly  affected by the story
of  Karen Ann Quinlan.

Again, sorry.

John

P.S.

The sun finally broke through
into this gloomy place I
call home.

Time and time again I wonder
what the hell am I
doing here.

Silence is my only answer—
If walls could talk what
would they tell me—

Once I sheltered Ambassadors
from different nations—
they were satisfied—
Why not me--??

I am from OZ
No one can follow
only swallow things I have to say—

Back over the rainbow I shall go
till another rainy day.

Who am I?  Alice or the Pinball Wizard.

Karen Ann Quinlan

A song still sings within the glen
For all who shun the ways of men.
For there a song of peace is heard
without a single spoken word.

Karen Ann Quinlan

the constant struggle with submission
is tiring
this so-called strength I’ve gained
is just another heavy load,
I wish to curl myself into a Fetal rose
and rest in the eternal womb awhile.

So thanks for the explantion.

An excellent poem as per your subject, and a bit of synchronicity for this reader.
