Goodbye, a word without end.
A lonely solitary sound
giving silence infinite length.

The very last word uttered
by love so long, long ago.

One that left darkness
to sing for me, alone,
in the heart and mind.

A word, that lasts forever.
Not one that I use lightly,
unused in the vocabulary
except in departures of finality.

A word providing passage
to a lifetime of silence.

I found it today, lurking,
its arrival unbidden.
Waiting for my ears only.

Not written, but spoken.
Soft dulcet tones emanating
from quality hi tech speakers,
whilst the band played on
in the background for effect.

Whilst still incomplete
I found the delete.
Consigned beyond reach,
I needed not to hear it
but more than once.

I am not too fond of "lurking goodbyes" either

(if my head wasn't pounding so bad, I think I could be inspired by this poem~)

Excellent write Frank...
Very much enjoyed.
Hugs~

Now while the leaves still dance on the wind
While the moon and the clouds come spinning
Will you whisper my name again?
Again..and again.

"Whilst still incomplete
I found the delete."

I don't think one should ever stop mid-way because, you know, love can't ever say goodbye.  It may try to free itself to make life bearable but only and always until the next hello ... but you know that - yes, of course you know that as well and as much as I do.  A moving write that echoes pain in a heart, my heart, that knows today there is no life without love.
