I was talking to the table
that sits beside the chair,
No answers were forthcoming;
it was if I was not there,
Now I admit to some frustration,
because the words I spoke,
Seemed to bounce right off the table;
off that polished piece of oak.
I was speaking not in parables;
in tongues not my discourse,
But still there was no answer;
then I thought with some remorse,
Perhaps it was my manner,
my demeanor was insulting,
Maybe with my inner being
is where I ought to be consulting
If perchance I spoke more contritely,
the table would reply,
Collecting all the thoughts I had,
I gave it one more try,
But still there was no answer,
it was if I was not there,
I must admit to my perplexion
of the table by the chair.

Well, then...
I guess the lesson
has been taught.

Seriously?  [You don't want serious, but that's ok, it's been a hard day here...]

Seriously...keep it up.  After awhile, even the polish on the oak lightens up, and takes on the touch of real life...

as you well know.

Nothing but admiration here...

it's difficult
sometimes
no one listens
when you're perplexed
well,don't be vexed
lay your words
gently now...

I know the feeling, except, I get no answer from my cockateil.

Thanks, Melton

takes you back to a basic philosophical arguement about whether these objects are actually there when you leave the room or they're only a reality while you're there...
enjoyed the lightness yet thoughtfulness of the write...
