Better Get Back On Board By: Noah Eaton 10/18/04 Everybody's moving too fast, everybody's talking about tomorrow's headlines, before they can discuss today's, latchkey children everywhere, eager to work out the mystery, but no one inspects the mystery machine, so many ashes lying on the streets, but we only sweep, with butcher's broom, and hydroquinone to hide the fears, mask the moral core, behind your face. Whistling in the dark, big train, little sound, let's count on each other for a safe ride, let's get through this together. BETTER GET BACK ON BOARD, BACK ON BOARD, we've just begun to see, WHAT WE'RE LIVING FOR, LIVING FOR, look beyond yourself and you will see, the world's waiting for a mythic revolution, so build a birdhouse for each new vision, let us care about a world we want to see, all works of love are works of peace. Our wings are a thousand books, but fear bowls us over as we look, upon mass-marketed teleprompter duckpin, I've always wanted to be wrong, when I have to repeat the song, God, it hurts so much to be right, all this courage can make you flip out, it can turn you inside out, leave your hands hanging tied, the real and lasting victories, are those made of peace, so let's jump-start this crystal ship... Whistling in the dark, big train, little sound, let's count on each other for a safe ride, LET'S NOT SLEEP TO THE FUTURE... Shuffle-boarding exaggerations, favorite sons and mutual masturbation, and forgotten tales of dark horses, who never had the chance to break maiden, behind the curtain we wait for vocal expression, the next Benjamin Spock or Jeanette Rankin, but in the end it's the stage crew who lights the show, so turn on your nightlight heart! BETTER GET BACK ON BOARD, BACK ON BOARD, we've just begun to see, WHAT WE'RE LIVING FOR, LIVING FOR, look beyond yourself and you will see, the world's waiting for a mythic revolution, so build a birdhouse for each new vision, let us care about a world we want to see, all works of love are works of peace... . . . ...the remedy is out and about... . . . ...big train, little sound... . . . ...love is a sprightly streetcar... . . . ...when we listen... . . . ...it's a little train, zippy sound... "You'll find something that's enough to keep you But if the bright lights don't receive you You should turn yourself around and come back home" MB20 |
