Granted

I get furious
                    sometimes
        when
             you
       take me
              for granted,
                      but
           it is only right;
                  after all,
                     that’s what I am:
granted.

James,
Do I detect a sting?  Ouch!  Enjoyed your writing.  I know I'm in for a whirl or thought when I click your post.

What a wallop this packs!!!! The fury and frustration are tangible, alive.

And they should be... for your last couple of lines reached straight into my heart... leaving me wondering how anyone so fortunate to be granted your attention would be so unappreciative as to take you for granted... such injustice deserves fury. *S*

Excellent write!!

Understanding the feelings in this.  How about a hug?

As important as I consider the upcoming election... I needed a counterpoint tonight for the VP debate... and poetry is always the perfect answer to most any question. *S*

Reading this again, I'm struck by a thought... and yes... being blonde, that's an important event. LOL

I think PIP sometimes has a comfort zone... and it's tempting to write for that comfort zone simply because it's satisfying to have the responses and know people have read.

But it's important for us as poets to breech that comfort zone regularly... expand our boundaries that we may learn.

You're never afraid to write the tough ones... the rough ones that don't sit easily on the reader's mind... the ones that aren't pretty and aren't the least bit comforting or cozy. *S*

I thank you for that... just thought you should know. *S*
