Palest pink punctuates the evening
as lighter shades of gray hug the edges
of whispering clouds that hold no threat

and yet?

Eyes filled with tears
scan the barren horizon
hoping to catch
one last glimpse of your warmth.

You were
the heat,
the cool,
the in-between;
a comfort zone
wrapped ‘round me,

a spiral of love.

I still feel your presence
within twilight’s layered lace.

I miss the tender touch
of fingertip’s embrace
upon uplifted face.

Palest pink punctuates the evening
as lighter shades of gray hug the edges
of whispering clouds that hold no threat,

save solitary confinement.

Lots of great colors and images on this salad, with a soupcon of loneliness for dressing.  You describe the feelings after love has gone away so well.  Well done!  KJ

you're welcome, sis
(though I'd rather paint you in bright yellow sunshine)
