Tomorrow it is going to rain, or so the newspaper said,
And I do not have an umbrella, so now I fear
That I will get wet, that is if it rains tomorrow.
I wonder if when I wake up and run outside
With just my underwear and robe on that the news
Will be wrapped in one of those flimsy plastic bags,
Or will it be lying there with just a rubber band on?

If the paper is wet, I seriously doubt that it will get read,
Because when it is wet, the words seem to smear
And become undecipherable, not that it’s any great sorrow,
But I’ve not the time to wait until the paper is dried,
So into the trash, and I will survive without the daily views
Of publishers and editors and bylined stories with reporters tags,
Because the smeared and undecipherable news in the trash will be gone.

That is if it rains tomorrow; and that is what the newspaper said.

Tim

I'll take your rain, and you can have my newspaper.   Enjoyed this!

A sad commentary, this.
For even were the paper dry,
still most of the news you might read
would be "smeared" with things other
than raindrops.

If I "need" to catch up on the world's events,
sad enough as they are,
there is so much "on line" that I feel no need
to let my $7.50/week
stand out in the rain.

Even when it doesn't rain.
