Tears fall
As my heart weeps
From the bite of Sorrow
With its bitter edged teeth

You linger in your passing
But I know the time comes
It is in the anticipation
That the heart comes undone

Why cannot it not be
As if stepping through a veil
Why must you tarry
In your pain ridden hell

And I weep

What is it about coming death
That it must be feared and decried
Why cannot it not just come
And one pass as if whispering a sigh

Would be better that way
Swift, final, no apprehension
No drawn out suffering
No inevitable affliction

No sorrow filled hearts
Of loved ones drawn near
Just a swift deft stab
Leaving only the fall of tears

And I cry

What bitter sweet misery
To have you here, yet gone
To know as days pass
Your time passes on

I would hold you here forever
Given my most selfish soul
But my heart would bid you go
Let the pain cease its toll

And with a quick step
Free of these earthly bonds
You will pass into freedom
Of the blessed beyond.

And I will weep

beautifully sad from the deepest and sacredest spot, if only we could pick the way it comes for those we love

Let only memories lie within
as souls pass into starlit skies
upon a moment of new begin
while those behind dry weeping eyes.

For dreams and memories bring smiles
and carry far upon an ocean's swell
into the heaven's limitless miles
as we bade them a warm farewell.

Beautiful thoughts Susan,  thoughts that
bring a moistness to eyes,  a slight
lump in one's throat....and so many
memories of times enjoyed...forever!

Thank you Sunshine and Inkedgoddes for your warm words.  And Barry, what beauty you gift me.

Sorry to be so melancholy, but there are days when it is just plain old hard.  'tis one of those days.  I appreciate your warm hearts --

This piece brought tears to my eyes in that it made me think of my grandfather whom I lost earlier this year...I know well the emotions you portray here...
