~*~

I'm ready to spread my wings
checking my baggage once and for all,
and I don't ever want to look back.

But chances are I most certainly will
when flying above the clouds,
I'll be thinking of you.

To kill the time and let it go
perhaps I'll move forward,faster,
despite the loss of altitude.

Or the turbulence that throws me for a loop
catching my breath,
I'll breathe you in and let it out, again.

Hanging my head between my knees
claiming my fame, that the sky is too blue
making me dizzy when I pass over you.

Bluesygal, I can feel the heartache of loss in this one. Yes, sometimes fast forwarding would be a nice option.
BRW, there is an old tune "If your life were on video tape" I'm thinking it was Steven somebody?? or maybe Harry Chapin?
Back in a few, I know I can find it!

if only we could just rewind
by Judith Miller

If your life were on video tape,

Wouldn't everything be all right?

If your head hurt the morning after, you could roll it back to late last night.

You could replay all of the good parts, and leave out what you don't like.

Wouldn't everything be just great,

If your life were on video tape

Bluesy, I admire your upward attitude and this was such a great write...it really has the feel of your emotions.  You're in my thoughts, sweet lady....keep those wings spread so when you come back to earth it will be a light landing, okay?  *hugs* ...jo

You make me smile so big, Kacy.
Thank you for being so kind and for caring the way that you do.

iliana~ We've got to hold our head up, seeing if we don't, we'll fall all over ourselves,
and my head hurts from falling so hard.

Dixie~  There is so much to look forward to when taking flight,
and I can't wait, simply because I know where I'll land....
so long as I don't look down.

I used to say to my children when they were young, now you gotta picture this......
holding my arms wide open, I said, do you know how much I love you,
I love you this much and more than that, and that's not enough to let you know how much.

Love you guys that much too.  Thank you for your ways,  dear ladies.

Up, up and away! I'm flying right beside you! Mind you, it takes a lot more physical effort on my part!

I'm with you! Your spirit is free and flying high and may you land gently in a beautiful new world!

Sisterly hugs,

You've penned a poignant pix of heartache
It's one that none can e'er away take.
So should your flight a good life make,
I hope it's sound, for goodness sake.

Well done!  (Wonderful support from the women, hope males can chime in too.) KJ

Through rubble and trouble and dark of night
The yawn of a dawn will hasten the light

"It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:

Bluesey
This poem is nicely arranged, covers the subject with good metaphor..Though the theme is sad you have expressed your feelings well.
A pinacle seems to be reached, the steepest part of the hill climbed...remember, you are the captain of your soul, and you will be allright...

You know, Bluesy gal, it is possible to stay grounded while in full flight.  It equates to knowing what you want to do and just jolly well doing it.  Life is just so full of choice, consequence, and taking responsibility that it sure can tire one.

Bluesy,
I enjoyed your poem muchly!  I have an image of a reluctant parachuter sailing through the sky.  Good landing to you, Bluesy.  Take care, Sweetie.

No, don't look back ~~ not ever. That only leads to flying in circles. Do look down though, to see those of us who watch and wait below, wishing you a fair flight.

Safe flight . . .

Dear Lori ... this touches me with its beauty, even though the melancholic ingredient lingers ...

While you spread your wings, smile your beautiful smile and be open to all the new gifts that will be coming your way.

To be grounded in the moment will make you fly higher ....

Love and hugs.

That first leap of faith is the hard part... after that... just ride the wind. *S*

And I agree with James... looking back isn't good... but when you look down, you'll see a lot of us cheering you on! *S*
