Two feet shod in canvas
grace bare legs below
ankles adorned with beads
reminding me
the color of the earth can change
and that water itself both caries and reflects
all that it flows through

I plant them
   in currents
and let her carry away the grain of me
  as she does the stone
as she does the earth itself
when in flood she scours across
the ache of too much
only later to cry
Too littleā€¦
then                             [{not enough}]

Even here in this the small of her
I feel the silt she carries begin to settle
planting me deeper in her bed
   perhaps
if I stand long enough
I too will become
                            raging still

JM.... a wonder here!

I've tried so hard to tell myself that you're gone though you're still with me
I've been alone all along..Now I'm bound by the life you left behind

Captain, I too was moved by that image of her feet in the water. It was a pleasure to read your eloquent poetic response to that photo.
