With scenery like this,  it is no wonder that
you wrote such a poem, so fitting.

Excellent is an understatement.

Dear Janet Marie, you write the world that surrounds you, like none other.
You are truly beautiful inside and out, and your poetry is always worth waiting for.

Passions wouldn't be the same without your mothy flutterings.
Thank you for sharing the beauty that is you.

Larry ... I dont doubt ya for a minute..thanks for stopping in groovy guy.

Heres some of my most recent shots, taken a couple weeks ago. The river (Meramec) was low and I found a sandbar that let me stand out in what would normally be the middle channel. Was so cool to be out that far.

I know... I'm seriously late for the party. *S*

But... *making excuses for myself* ... that means I get the benefit of the poem and photos and comments all at once! *S*

When I first read this, I didn't think I'd be able to choose a favorite passage because the entirety is so beautiful. *S* But with these words

"So I question everything ...
exploring each edge, following
the curves of my constant curiosity."

I think you captured part of what being a poet is... looking beyond the obvious for the inevitable layers. *S*

Excellent work! *S*

"And I wonder if this creek I worship, is as
impressed with the ripples I make in my
water inspired awakening."

Sorry it took me so long to get here Jams but I got my hand stuck on a cat's tooth...

I could've quoted the entire poem, you know that, but this verse, for whatever reason, just makes me happy.  And I thank you for sharing with me the pics you take of that world you've found through the lens.  Oh and thanks for the tip on Shuttefly stock...

I only exist when in motion with the
currents of creeks swirling over stone,
of rivers winding between white bluffs,
of lakes lapping sandy banks.

All of which hold me a "woman in waiting"
until my reprise to the reverie of shorelines
cadenced by wave curls.

I could of course do what you do and cut and paste the entire piece but I won't as this simply created a flood of euphoric emotions that are very hard to put a name to right now.  I do know one thing ~ I could kick myself for missing this and now I know what you were talking about the other day.  Lady please be specific when it comes to when you post a poem, as yours I absolutely never wish to miss, never.

You have given the elements a voice, yes you have indeed.

Their colors sustain me,
Their silence contains me,
all that's never said, will be
what explains me.

Janet Marie ... I have read this over and over and each time come away with feelings deep inside. You are an amazing writer. I know you don't post often, but when you do ... WOW!

"Time and again I am drawn here, returning
to where trees whisper the truth of the wind
and rocks keep the secrets of water."

I just loved these words. I can hear the trees whisper and I know for sure that the rocks keep secrets.

Truly a work of art.

Ruth ...  no need for excuses...I'm always late, all that matters is you came and played in the creek. *S*  Thank you girlie for the insightful response...yes...there is much inspiration to be found and my poet eyes and camera eye is always looking. LOL Thanks Ruth.

Dunc ... One of these days we will learn to resist those kittens yaya ( I could have said Tigerboyeeeees) LMAO.  Yeah..me thinks I need rehab for my Fugi-fever and Shutterfly should name a wing after me...lol Thanks Dunc. ykikyk

Sharon ... Thank you dear for such sweet reply ... I love what you said about giving the elements a name... I feel like they give me breath ... as for sneaking there yesterday, lol
I took 4 rolls of film in about an hour ... but the best part was sitting in the middle of the creek on a big rock in the sun and listening to the water flow by. It has such a ethereal, and restoring effect on me. The next few weeks are going to be taken with the move and I know I wont have many chances to go there till we get settled in so I went for it. I always have me creek shoes in the car.  lol  thank you Sharon.

Marti ... what a wonderful reply... thank you so much for your generosity and support of my work, and I love that you feel the magic of this beautiful place thru the photos...I love being able to share its beauty in this medium. Thank you kind poetess.

THANK YOU ALL for the awesome response to this poem.

Hi there my poet pet.

What a wonderful title and I love the pictures you've taken. The peace that saturates these words and the scenes is truly wonderful...And, this is so you...

"'Til then I am resplendently restless ...
urged on by all that I have yet to witness.
Enticed by euphoric explorations and
defined by the discoveries, seduced by
the sky in it's resonating rituals of renewal."

Beautiful work and I'm happy to see you're enjoying your new hobby so much.

I love this read!

This paints such a vivid picture of both the outdoors and introspection. A message well written and well received.  It speaks to me in layers, on so many levels.  I have written many words, and ready myriad more; however, it is rare that you find a writing that is composed of such brilliance that it rivals the writings of our most revered poets.  I was absolutely in awe of the deftness, the flow, and the meanings contained in this poem.  You are incredibly gifted.  This should find printed pages very easily.  A keeper for sure!  This would be one for the record books if you asked me.  Thank you for sharing it.

Warm regards,

Kevin

E-babes ... thank you so much groovy guy...Im so pleased you got to see this one..
thank you Eric...youre so good to me.

Kevo ... what do I say to such a humbling, generous response...my goodness...
thank you very much for such high praise... I love when I see a fellow poet investing as much in their replies as they do their poetry. I love to read others poetry as much as writing my own. Thank you again poet sir.

Maureen ... so glad you came by and found some peace in the pictures...yes...I love to ride in the early morns...I hope you will get to do that soon, It always does my spirit and mood so much good to get out of the house and spend some time talking to the trees. *S*
thank you poetess M.

thank you to all who shared some of you with me on this thread.
I appreciate it so much.

Heres a few more of this lovely state park.....

this last one is of the usually quiet creek, right after heavy spring rains...its almost flooding out of its banks...the roar of the water was awesome.

I would love to live as a river flows, carried by the surprise of its own unfolding.

gee this is good, but most people would require a dictionary to get thru it; maybe you could take it down a notch for the average person to appreciate; and 45 comments?  why? what am i missing?

"Janet Marie - Critique Message: I can only grow as a writer when I am able to see my words thru another's eyes...Constructive criticism is always welcome."

bklynboy - I am sorry you had such trouble interpreting this piece of beautiful poetry.  There is a wonderful site called dictionary.com http://dictionary.reference.com/  that I wish to suggest as a tool to keep open while reading poetry that might get you through exceptional work with more ease.  I wouldn't want you to miss out on as to why this piece got so many responses (45 is not at all unusual for this writer.) We grow in our own writing from reading the work from those that use metaphors, and emotions poetically correct, and we should indeed thank them for their efforts.  These poets teach us to be better writers ourselves.

Speaking for myself, this piece actually personifies the elements through the words of this author (personify = To think of or represent (an inanimate object or abstraction) as having personality or the qualities, thoughts, or movements of a living.) In other words, she succeeded in bringing to life a simple creek, stream, or flow of water, and connected it to human emotions through a (Poem = Writing that formulates a concentrated imaginative awareness of experience in language chosen and arranged to create a specific emotional response through meaning, sound, and rhythm)

Oh ... I just came back to say thank you for writing this calm and gentle piece of work in the chaos of my day.

Janet Marie - It is truly a pleasure to read anything of yours, but this.....oh, the calmness....I know a place such as this, and I thankyou for taking me back there again. The pics are gorgeous as well. Hugs!
