I draw cold inspiration
from your absence.
Tears overflow
my eyes.
Pain cinches
my heart.
What I thought
to be fate,
was only an angel
cloaked in black,
his sword hidden
behind the folds
of his disguise.
His blade
how it stung
as it sliced through me
and punctured the guardian
of my mortality.
I stood before him
speechless and impaired
as I felt
the joyous warmth
escape my body
and form a pool
beneath my corpse.

I feel like I just stepped back into the 14th century.  Cool.

A harrowing step back in time indeed

It is about having my heart broken by a beautiful man.  A beautiful man whose sweet words turned to silence. sigh

Ah.  For some reason I thought of the Ghost of Christmas Future when I read this.  Although I know from your explanation that that wasn't what it was about at all, but a heart being broken.   Still a good read.

Ouch - deep, cold, riveting.  Good work.
