Man in the Mirror

You hide from the man in the mirror
Afraid to accept what is before your eyes.
Don’t you realize it’s you?
When you look into the looking glass
What do you see?
Dead eyes,
Void of life.
Turn away,
Turn your back to the reflection
As you have many times before.
You may no longer see yourself
But I still do.
Those dark eyes
That haunt my dreams.
What caused them to lose
Their luster?
I could lose myself
In their murky depths.
It scares me.
How frightening must it be for you?

***my maiden voyage into Dark Passions***

 It matters not how strait the gate;
How charged with punishments the scroll;
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

Welcome Tara, and what a wonderful way to journey in here.  Terrific poem, there is a bit of darkness in all of us.  Merry Christmas to you and yours

 Reach inside your heart, that is the greatest gift you can bestow. Merry Christmas..

Tara you simply must stay for a while.

'Tis a nicely Dark verse my friend.

 Now and forever, my heart hears ~one voice~.

Excellent verse, powerful message.  Makes me wonder how many of us truly know what lies behind our own eyes.  Wonderful job.

Isis, thanks for the welcome over here.  Dream, these poems don't come often for me, not sure how long I'll stay, but thanks for the invite.  Michael, thank you.
