Asleep in a chair
My dream returns
Age is real
Days of rain
Nights of pleasure
Smoke floats lifeless
Obscures the faces
Streets filled with filth
Never seen, not known
Lashed to a cloud
Enduring the sunlight
Till dusk falls from the trees
And envelopes the shadows
Horizontal in the garden
Tulips enfold my form
And I pierce their softness
Stars dance crazily in the grass
Laughing with the joy I felt
When I was young and in love.

------------------
And in the darkest depths of Mordor,
I met a girl so fair
But Gollum and the Evil One
Crept up and slipped away with her.

I really like this one....the last line gives it sort of a wistful twist.

Oh to dream this life away...good poem D.B.
There is no feeling I can relate to that of being 16 and in love.

DB,
I really like this one... Is the "T" the "T" that I'm thinking of that inspired this piece?

It is indeed, my dear. Loved that last one.

Sys-CT-Michael, Thanks for your words.
