If alive
You would have been a good beast,
The metal
Doesn’t dim your spirit in the least;
Though not gleaming
I didn’t spend time in shining
(I’m not that sort of guy),
A little bit of dust,
But not a speck of rust
Looking good to the average eye.
Now you sit,
Yes, you were a good machine
But you’ve quit
More important than you seem,
It’s no disgrace
You’ve been replaced,
It happens to us all,
Along the way
Will come a day
Each of us will fall.

I too have an old reliable...grin...
There is nothing that can replace that security...no glitz, no glitter...just solid mobility.  I will cry when the time has come to turn her out to pasture.
Great write.

Thank you, ThisDiamond,
After a few years it is a living thing, not just a hunk of metal.
Pleased you enjoyed.

Thank you, nakdthoughts,
Vehicle problems just adding to the mix of everything else,
Perhaps you can understand that, glad you liked my humble words.

Gloomy~

I felt the same way about the '69 GTO I had in my drive for several years.

I enjoyed this, thinking back to my 65 mustang.  Poor thing didn't like the big wooden fences on an icy day.  Still miss that car!

And one should always be careful of what is being said in front of 'her'.
Loved this write..
