To smile at a simile is to rest in tickled fancy, yes?

Pulling Away

pulling away
from the peace
the serenity
of this form of comunique
is as pulling taffy
that has heated
a bit beyond
the softball stage

the beauty of the day calls
the chores, responsibilities, as well,
yet the joy
of this lingering
is a balm to the heart
and a stirring to the soul

so certain and necessary
to let go...
but, oh...
how the ache to stay
remains

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

Reading and writing poetry is intoxicating.  It's hard to remember to pull back and remember responsibilities, like writing the pieces that will pay the bills.
