I was thinking of my mother on Valentine's Day, and so I wrote this Mother's Day poem.

Wind Song

She must have been the wind song of November
That swept you gently to another place
The softest melody that you remember
Her warm and shallow breath upon your face

She must have been the April mist of morning
That wets the earth with life sustaining dew
She was like dawning’s crystal beads adorning
The spring time petal’s bathed in pastel blue

She must have been the leaves of autumn falling,
Her brilliant amber wings plucked by the rains
And in November’s song you were recalling
The radiance of love that still remains

It must have been her beauty that was flowing
From roses left to wither in a grave
For through the hazy tears your heart was glowing
As you still lived the happiness she gave

In balm of floral scents you still remember
The joys that poured from deep maternal springs
The sweet immortal wind song of November
The melody of May that ever sings

Your ear retains the echoes and the glory
And little tunes of childhood’s brightest days
A carillon that plays the sweetest stories
Retold and told again in pastel Mays

This is the day that still belongs to Mother
This is the time that you still set apart
To thank the one who loved you like no other
And she, in turn, still gently stirs your heart

Liz, this is absolutely beautiful. The theme flowed wonderfully throughout to stir gentle and cherished memories. So good to read you, my friend. Just lovely.

Best wishes and hugs,
/Kit

Elizabeth..when I see you name I know I am in for a treat.
This is especially beautiful..not just for Mother's Day,
but any time of year.  Wonderfully penned.
