Recently, I visited the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, I have never visited it before and I was completely overcome with emotion regardless of the fact that the vietnam war was almost completely over when I was born.  It is a very powerfull place that I will visit again and will take my daughter to visit as well.I was standing there, looking at the names, and suddenly, I was crying...
I cannot explain it, perhaps because I am a veteran, perhaps not.Anyway, I felt compelled to write a poem and here it is.  To all who served in that war... you have my utmost respect and admiration, be you alive or at rest, Thank you.

The names engraved upon this wall
Of those who heard and answered the call
They have been etched into this stone
That to the future, they shall be known

They gave their lives for you and I
their own desires and needs passed by
So do not ask, "what was it all for?"
Ask of yourself, "what would I endure?"

Thank you ilian, serving this great country is a labor of love and requires no thanks... perhaps that's what makes the thanks so appreciated.  Thank you too Susan ~hugs to you both~
