Plastic Flowers

My plastic flowers droop today
Weighted with the dust of gray
Hanging in a patch of sun
Where fade has bleached the colors dun.

And here I sit in comma’s stare
Half alive and half aware
Looking through the mist of time
Acting like a pantomime

Reactions run an algae pace
And covers me a drafty lace
The cold seeps through the blankets coup
And all that’s left are thoughts of you

I wrap these thought around my bones
They warm me with their overtones
And hold my hand a mental grip
That heats them like a hot wax dip

The plastic flowers do not stay
They fade a little more each day.

How about a real garden with living flora?  Plastic will always remain such, no matter how beautiful...  Good morning to you, Sy.

Hey Seymour, fresh flowers are better,
though they don't last as long.

Hey Seymour. Love this piece. Plastic flowers? Mmm...I can hear my wife screaming at you from her greenhouse already! (Snicker!) I get the intent of what you are saying in the poem though. It is a sad piece...but well forged and worth the read. Bravo my friend.

I'll pick you some daisies and some posies ...
I'll plant you an Eden of red rosies of supposies.

But who wants to gaze upon fake
No matter what a view they make
Their color's fine for a short while
But they've no scent to make one smile
There are no thorns that puncture skin
But there's no vibrancy within
When we need comfort for life fractured
What use is rose that's manufactured?
A plastic posy just isn't right
For one who "sees" with more than sight

But fading flowers do not decry
Heart's true connection... that doesn't die.

I liked this very much, Seymour... my fingers just took over... sorry! *S*

You are such a special writer.
Who else could select the subject of artificial flowers and write such a perfect poem?
I really enjoyed this. Youngster

The passage of time is so eloquently described here, dear Seymour.

The cold seeps through the blankets coup
And all that’s left are thoughts of you

Melancholically beautiful.

Hi Sy! I really like this. I was going to say, atleast you don't have to water them. But, maybe if you had washed them, they wouldn't have faded. You could just paint them, then they would be as good as new. *S
