The velvet strokes of verdant leaves
Caress the face of earth’s offspring
As prairie grass its whispers weave
And blossoms’ bells their pageants ring.

Springtime songs their anthems raise
In auspicious harmony divine
A lover’s kiss, a soft embrace
A poet’s touch in careful rhyme.

The gentle blend of weathered souls
Belays the splendor of the sounds
That beckons players play their roles
When solstice blooms and life abounds.

Be still, my love, for thee ensues
The touch of passions’ fresh milieus

Sue, thank you…it was fun to write…it sort of came easily…hard to think of as stunning though

Noah, yeah, I told myself I wouldn’t write a sonnet for this time of year, so I used tetrameter instead of pentameter and kept the rhyme scheme of a sonnet

Ethyl, thank you very kindly…I appreciate that very much

ARH, well, if you liked it (you always write such beautiful romantic poetry), I must have done something right…thank you very much

Grover, thank you

Steaven, your words fit so perfectly
together like some puzzle made out of
the finest hardwoods.

Unlike mine, where I usually have to get
the scissors out, and hack the words up
to fit the spaces... lol

Seriously, this was exceptional.

And a pleasure to read.
