After the crew aboard the Columbia perished.
I remember seeing this one picture of them,
all standing in front of a fireplace.

Maybe you remember it?

They all had Hawaiian lea's on, and they were all
standing side by side, smiling, with their arms
around each other.

So many brilliant, wonderful, and giving lives,
gone in an instant.

So much hope, and so much promise,
lost forever.

One can only wonder, what other great things
they could have accomplished, for so many.

One can only wonder, how many great things
will still be accomplished,
by their inspiration?

Where Do You Put The Flowers?

They soar so high, and fall so low. It’s part of who they are
They dive down to the deepest depth, and travel to the stars
Why do they always have to know, what mysteries lie ahead?
What makes them want to chart the course, instead of being led?

These special few who aren’t afraid, to lead us through the dark
The paths they forge for human kind, are how they leave their mark
They do so ‘cause they want to fill, a fundamental need
Improving our well being, so our species will succeed

What makes a person want to risk, their life for you and me?
What makes them prove the earth is round, and sail the seven seas?
How do you thank such special people, after their own death?
How do you pay a person back, who gave their final breath?

I hope you Seven Angels know, how much we truly care
I hope you feel the love we send, to all of you up there
I still can see them waving, with a smile on each face
Ambassadors of all mankind, so filled with hope and grace

You only have to look within, and gently close your eyes
They’re up there looking over us, as we go walking by
We’ll always be so grateful, for the sacrifice you made
We honor all the final dues, in life you had to pay

We never will forget the day, our nation sat and cried
The day a part of all of us, just shriveled up and died
Where do we go to see them all, to say our last good byes?
Where do you put the flowers, when your hero’s in the sky?

Aside from the terrible loss to the victims' families, I think it's a horrible shame that launches of this type continue while much of the money spent on shuttles, Mars expeditions and such, can go for proper health care or in helping to reintegrate the homeless.

Richy this is such a beautiful tribute.
I wish that all the families of these brave
people could have a copy. Thank you for this.
I'm keeping it too.

Bravery is never linked to a cause.  This is a fine tribute to the bravery that can drive the human spirit of wonder when it could so easily be crushed by the burdens of the world.

(big angel hugs) What makes me sad most of all is thinking of what those seven thought as they drifted in space, looking down upon our beautiful blueberry Earth and thinking of their wives and sons and daughters and their thoughts of missing them so much! (wipes tears) I only hope hat their children can look up to the stars and when they see the brightest star, they know it is their daddy's heart beaconing to them, God Bless You, this is the most beautiful and honorable dedication to these seven wonderful people, you deserve extra big angel hugs for this, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Richy, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

I heard Sandy Anderson speak this morning... admiring her strength and composure... I wish she could read this. *S*

Many people are leaving flowers at Johnson Space Center's entrance today... just as they did a year ago.

This is a beautiful touching tribute.
