We could spend the day together
You said you left her a note
Where are you when I haven’t heard from you in weeks?
And I knew you wouldn’t stay

I just happened to be sitting here waiting for you to call
Glad you could make it and sing to me again
And I warned myself
Did he really make it snow
So that he had to stay

Loved having you in my living spaces
Room to breathe and time to talk
Shared the air and lived in peace
You asked if you should go
I silently screamed no and I said stay

You read to me poems from your book of verse
we smiled we nodded we laughed
you looked so beautiful to me
But I knew a verse rehearsed there’s no worse curse
And I knew you wouldn’t stay

You wanted time and space alone
She wouldn’t know where you would be
You’ve always known you can trust me
I took your calls, the brunt, the wrath
You’d be back later to gather me up but for now you could not stay

I was lofty you made me feel special
You said you’d always take care of me
It was so hard to let you go
And I knew you wouldn't come back
I knew you wouldn't stay

Don’t say you know something
when you don’t

This is great...
Makes me think of "Stay" by Lisa Loeb. Such a great song. I think you are speaking, possibly, of infidelity, though, and that's not cool. But Lisa Loeb is. Did you know her long time beau is Dweezle Zappa? Evidently they have some show, similar to the Jessica Simpson, Nich Lachey one...I've never seen it. It's probably quirky.

can be found everywhere.
I liked how you played this one out...
