an akward state of mind

That state
between
asleep and awake,
When you can often hear the outside world,
but can’t reach it
and it can’t reach you.
When the dreaming feels so real...

Sitting in a field
carpeted with thousands of
slick young blades of green grass
that have never seen the metal face of a mower,
Dotted with daisies
and patches of clover,
I pick the blossoms
and form a flower crown
and set it proudly upon my head
ever-so-careful that
the breeze doesn’t damage this
delicate creation
as it blows through my thin hair
that brushes my face
while dancing on my shoulders.

And I know
that all the troubles,
the monsters of
fear, worry, frustration and panic are
so far away
and cannot reach me.
Loneliness, sitting in a dark corner,
by himself somewhere
Can’t run fast enough to grasp me
out here, still, in this never-ending field
extending in all directions,
bearing no center.
And I am safe
from all the dark truths and unwanted tears
life throws at me.
I am invincible with this crown upon my head,
nothing can seep in
through these eyelids closed tight,
trapping inside the rays of dreams.
I may be asleep
but in my semi-consciousness,
I smile.

This poem was good, just like your others. I remember one poem you wrote a GOOD while back that I printed out and still have. I don't remember what the title was but I absolutely loved it. This poem was great as well. I could just picture everything in my mind, great imagery and great work! ~Jess

poetry is addicting for me, i'm spending too much time on this website

anyways, what was the poem about, from before? I'm just curious, i think i only posted like 4 or 5 at the most last  year...
