The King of Lies

There was a king,
Who asked his people for the truth.
Many gathered for his request.
A noble man said,
“I know the Truth,
Crush your enemies, know their weakness,
And bring it against them.” And the king thought about this.
He asked for another.
A knight came before him, and answered,
“This is the truth, honor matters over all
Life is forfeit before it.”
And again, the king thought,
And again, he asked for another answer.
So, a simple man stepped forward
And said,
“I do not know the truth,
All I have is my family, and have never searched
For anything else.”
And the king was satisfied.

Each of us is the sum of our scars...
