Dark Secret Why do I treat my true self As some sort of dark secret? Always hiding what’s really going on Except with my true friends? There are so many acquaintances Who don’t know But I’m afraid to let them Afraid that they’d pity me too much Or would be afraid themselves And so I keep smiling Though it pains me to do so And makes me want to scream in frustration Perhaps I’m afraid to let too many in Afraid they would hurt me in the end Especially now when I’m so close to breaking I know I’m only hurting myself Even with the knowledge that all secrets come out Dark or light Joyous or morbid All secrets are exposed in time Usually against someone’s will So why do I feel I’m special? ~~Poetry is written emotion~~ |

this is really good... very true to alot of people/poets too i think. the question at the end adds to this poem though, it sets it apart from other poems to me. great write and read. good work. |
