So loved I have you for so many a day
Loved when so young
Loved every day
Yet  time carries on
And ask for so much
Your spirit and love
I ache for to clutch
In hands older now
And eyes needing a prism
You look just so fine
I can’t really begin
To say all within
I wish that would happen
As our love has matured
There is so much that has happened
We could talk of it for hours
And days I suppose
But time seems to have quieted
The ether between
Where our feelings and thoughts
Used to generate steam
So more and more years
Are added to our love
I hope we find time
To bathe in that love
And say many things
We have thought and have felt
As my heart writes these words
My soul before you is knelt

Hi Paul..this has a sad ring to it..
When a couple has been together for a long while
we at times forget the passion that was there, for many reasons.
Tell her how you feel...remind her of how it once was...
and can be again!

Paul...It is wonderful to express your love in such a way after so many years...time can sometimes make things old hat...it is good to keep the love fresh in your heart so that it reflects your feelings to your beloved.  Enjoyed, as always!

One might expect the hearing to fade
But not so the voices we once made

Aging may not be as graceful as said
When we find a dreaded silence instead

Love grows, changes, moves in unexpected directions....and though it can be destroyed, but it never dies.

Just the other day
I thought about writing
a poem
that talked of aged love
and holding hands...

But you beat me to it.

Paul, this is so lovely. I believe that true love sees not the aging, only the outer glow of two souls joined. Hugs, Chris

Paul -- my favorite part:

"But time seems to have quieted
The ether between
Where our feelings and thoughts
Used to generate steam"

So well put!

I hope we find time
To bathe in that love
And say many things
We have thought and have felt

I hope so too, for you...because that is the glue that stays a marriage or relationhip...
