A Strained Conversation

I had noticed the difference
It somehow seemed strange
Our chats used to be friendly
I wondered why the change

Seemed forced and shallow
It was lacking the natural flow
With a strained conversation
Was he wanting me to go

In abrupt one worded replies
What reasons could there be
Did feelings no longer matter
Or had he none left for me

Were his thoughts elsewhere
It became a puzzling situation
The back and forth small talk
Of our strained conversation

lovely write, so glad to hear things
worked out too, so hard in friendships
and any relationship for that matter not
to know what is going on with the other
