LIKE THE BIRDS

Birds arise with the dawn like love when it’s first born, stretch their wings in holy sky, and fly above the trivia that walks on the ground, oh, ever so proud.  How patient are the young in a nest built with love awaiting the promise of their nourishment which always is enough to help them live and grow to sing the same song as was sung so long ago.

But I cannot fly unless I decide to loosen my mind from all the ties that bind and I cannot sing unless I believe that somewhere deep within is the “how it was then” waiting to arise and start living again.  I’m busy, you see, with all the trivia like who said “what”, when, and how can it be that way over there the currents in air don’t ruffle their hair when here the unfair makes me shed a tear.

And I’m no longer nourished by man made norms and forms made long before I thought there was more and yet like a fledgling still learning to fly I must appear to the naked eye as part of the rest – in a nest, of course a nest, for what more is the world than a bunch of “twigs and feathers” to be discarded in the process of wonderful new growth?

I’m leading somewhere, yes, indeed, but please do give me time to be certain, sure, and unafraid to stretch my mind and fly into a world that some would say is simply make-believe.  But I flew that day and still today I fly but not yet can I prove how beautiful the sky wherein the truth of you and I reside in a nest made to last by the feelings of our hearts.

Believe me when I say, “the world is here to stay but it will change and grow and overspill the boundaries that once upon a time, so long ago I find, confined us all in love and where no one was called upon to offer proof of such for it was there, and still is there, in the depths of every soul”

And usually when the words “believe me” hit our ears we’re thinking it’s another lie to turn our eyes to ground but this time perhaps why don’t we look to sky and think maybe, yes, we surely can all fly and sing the song of long ago like the birds when they arise!

Thank you, passing shadows.  Double volume to make up for missing last Sunday and perhaps the next.

Hi, Martie. Thank you for reading all of that.  May you have a wonderful festive season.
