"Blue Jean Baby,
          L.A. Lady,
             Seamstress for the band..."
                      ~Bernie Taupin
                        {Elton John, Tiny Dancer}
Close your eyes and you can see her
Dancing somewhere in your mind
Memories are just a blur
But her face you always find
Her smile haunts your dreams
You reach but she slips away
Like fog broken by morning's beams
As she laughs and turns to say
"If you've come to save me
Do what you can
But I'm forever in love
With the music man
His music plays
All my shades of grey"
She hums his tune
As she turns away
Close your eyes and you can see her
Dancing somewhere in the sand
You reach out and she disappears
Never meant to hold your hand
But in dreams she'll always stay
Her laughter always near
In dreams the band will always play
And the music man is that face in the mirror

Wow! I love the thoughts in this, about how some people are always there in dreams even if they aren't right next to us. Great work!

I watched the movie Almost Famous yesterday for the first time and got the song "Tiny Dancer" stuck in my head.  This poem is what came out of it *L* Thank you all very much for your comments *S*
