Slip into slumber home of the Dryad,
Shedding the green you held so long,
Colors bursting out had made her glad
Dancing to their fall in gleeful song,
But now she wanders about so sad
In fields away from where she belongs.
Frost pixies make the grasses white
Preparing for the coming season
Now working in to the late of night.
From meadows edge the dryad looks on.
Mighty Oak calls to her to return
To comfort his roots in the cold ground
But she wants to see the season turn
Feel the chill wind and hear it’s sound.
Her green hairs fades to starkest white
And stiffness fills her as she walks
Oak wont miss her for just one night
As she joins the night elves in their talks.
Too soon the coming of the years first snow
Rushing to her oak to which she’s bound
With in it’s trunk safety she will know
If only she remembers where it is found.
Ice and snow with the windy cold
Covers the tracks and trails of the forest,
She was too adventurous and bold
And now has no place for her to rest
Except for in the piling of the snow
Where next spring an oak sapling will grow.

wonderful--the personification here is magickal, prof.

I was sorry this was over when I was done--(oh--that was sort of your point, huh? )

Bravo, m'buddy!

Great to read you again.

Whoa!   Had to read this again.   This is well personified-I could imagine her, as if I knew her.  I liked how you transitioned this to cover a length of time, showing her
in different circumstances.   Very nice write, Professor.

sometimes it is hard to know exactly where we belong Prof.  As always, I enjoyed reading your words.

Thank you, Serenity,
Always nice to be read, glad you liked this,
Sort of runs towards the Mythical / Magical
But I thought I would leave the city confines at least
In my poem and mind.

Thank you, Sadelite,
Glad you enjoyed, and mythical beast are everywhere
And always
Perhaps you’d better check the weeping willow by the lake
Never can tell whom will live in a place like that
A gnome? A pixie? Or just a stay cat.

Thank you, Gentle Spirit,
Yes very hard to know where and also with whom we belong,
I suppose some have pieces of April when others have a December Chill.
Pleased you took the time to read and respond.
