~* Heavy Grows A Heart *~

Heavy grows a heart that whistles
A tune of a different note.
As friends disappear on them,
Hiding behind a protective moat.

They cower and they stay there
In the winds of so unkind,
Waiting for the wind to shift
So they can change their mind.

Walking a path of determination
The waters will seem very cold,
When you walk them all alone,
With no one's hand to hold.

What’s great about stormy weather
Is it doesn’t last too long,
Then people tend to harmonize
Together in cheerful song.

Unless the damage that is done,
Can’t be fixed or even repaired,
Then a precious bond gets broken,
By a friend who never cared.

It’s hard to find true friends these days
Who are not afraid to show,
They believe in you at all cost,
And are proud to let the world know.

~* a poem *~

Very touching and sad, but there is the sparkle of hope that things return harmonious again.
Beautiful also the picture!

The simple pleasures of life are often missed these days...that feeling of harmony, the support of true friendship.  Wise words, that inspire good friends. TD

A true friend is there even after harsh words are said. Understanding and accepting are the keys. We understand there is bound to be a difference of opinion and accept each other for those differences.

Lovely poem and graphic!

It's hard to imagine a heart ever being so heavy, Mysteria, that they don't recognize a hand held out in friendship.  Certainly, not your hand.  This is a lovely poem, and I can see how much your heart resides within.

A friend is a friend is a friend
A rose is a rose is a rose
A rose, by any other name would be a friend
Beautiful to your eye,
Filling your breath with fragrance
Pleasing to your spirit
Always returning to your garden the next season
Friendship is both fragile and sturdy,
just as a rose bush
Your writing is always heartfelt
You always evoke such emotions in what you write and illustrate
Take care, dear one
Liz

The telling story is when it costs the person something to be called a friend. When it's easy to do where's the test? There is so much truth in this. Fair weather (?friends?) are around when they have nothing to lose by standing by you. Find out when there's something that calls on them to make a stand *then* you will find out.
So much truth in this for sure. Here's hoping you will always have an abundant supply of the one's willing to stand by you! We ALL deserve them. This was so full of heart.
Love,
Terri~

What a nice response to this simple little thing, and thanks for your caring but this is not about me - but instead humanity in general.

Shararose - you nailed it!  Thank you for taking the time to further cement how important true friendships can be.

Again, thank you all for taking the time to read the poem.

beautifully done as always, Lady.

Unfortunately, I feel as if I have lost more than a few friends here lately because I decided to be honest about suspicions, pains, betrayals, etc.

I pray it isn't true as I would never turn my back completely on anyone here as I feel has happened to me.

I know you said this isn't about you...but just in case it is...sometimes they're not walking away as much as they're cooling off.

I LOVE YOU! I LOVE YOU! I LOVE YOU!

Sharon,
I'll be your friend through it all. Certainly you have been an incredible friend to me. This is indeed a lovely write and it is such an honor to challenge the norm through our friendship today.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

(big hugggsssssss) Oh Sharon, this is so very heartfelt, sweet friend, when I was a little boy I was abused by boys my own age at elementary school and I had no friends and I felt terrible and cried all the time and I felt no one wanted to be my friend so I almost ended my life, but now that I have found this wonderful poetry family I am so blessed as I have you and so many wonderful friends who are blessed to have me as a friend in your and their hearts! (big angel friendship hugs) God Bless You, sweet friend, whenever you'd love to talk to me, you are always welcome to e-mail me, yay, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Sharon, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
