Forlorn world..to the chase of false caches
beneath a letter and palm trees that sway
the world is whatever you shape it to be
otherwise you'd be on top of coconut trees.

You came down to walk along the ground
or did you arise after a week was found
you gave everything for a chance at a win
and the Russian roulette showed a bad spin...

Remember Mr. Silvers as he rented a car
The gas attendant thought he was a star
There was news of riches at a place marked X,
jalopies careened towards wealth amassed next

Shadow box, invent weapons of mass disgrace
Trump foreign chaos and civilian distaste,
remember the promise of the land of the free
the world is whatever you'll shape it to be...

Remember Miss Merman, she shouted on her way
she'd have her son follow and protect her stay
there's was a race to the land of the free
had no idea Tracey'd have it under lock and key.

Elect muscular officials with box office success
to bring in votes and flex brawn nonetheless,
I look at Ancient Rome...see the cause of decay
You still think the world is yours on a tray?

From the magic spot, Tracey nabbed the loot
the suckers lay chase and saw him scoot
scaled a narrow fire escape in dead heat
watched their efforts burn...they saw defeat..

We think we know the ways
in which to change our daily stays
but like moths to a flame,
[Oh No!  A cliche!]
We plod along into another day...

~*~

Smiling with you...
we'll just try our best to make sure
it's not too much of a mess
for the ones behind us
to clean up.

Passing Shadows

....very true but I'd still like to ensure my family and friends can continue to walk on the ground,

And HAPPY HOLIDAYS to you, as well!  It really did deserve to be brought back up, really.

Just try to be myself...I do enjoy weaving past and present in my poems..and being somewhat cryptic...someone once commented why I use the medium of riddles... which is not far from the tone here.
the last poem on 'what's your name' is applicable too to undersatnding how many people react in this socio-politically correct, xenophobic world of ours

ecrivan -- you said in the latter poem, that a man named Innocent told you the story -- I bet there is a poem about that man, as well.  Is there?
