Empty nest syndrome, along with some poor choices, caused me to walk away from the love of my life. You will find a lot of references to her in my writing. Now, being a little past what I like to call "peak middle age," ;-} I realize that the love and affirmation I need I find in my grandchildren. These days... I feelin' older But I'm still steppin' bolder than a man like me oughta' be Like Seeger said "18, straight and tall..." But it's a lot harder now holdin' in my gut and all There are tales to tell and walks to take New babies are comin' make no mistake Grandchildren spring forth with vigor and life Who knows, maybe... I'll get my wife Not that I think about her... much Quiet moments... I miss her touch Raucous moments... I miss that glance In all my days I pray... just one more dance Who am I fooling such crazy talk Then I take one of my Grand Ones for a walk Peace, Joe |
