Before there was language
antiquated herbivores roamed
we fed them greenery
waiting for the Earth to cool
to form itself

Somewhere inside of me
resides this memory
as a child, forgotten
but not lost
completely
Upon my hand, the scent
right palm speaking
of underbrush and silt

Exactly how it smells after a rainfall . . .

My soul begs to love you
as does your own in return

The fireside smoke
spirals
calling us home
the place of our birth
once again

Sue, it doesn’t surprise me that you are able to reach so far down,
and connect with Mother Earth, on this level!

What a meaningful and significant quality that is!

This was very spiritually touching!

Way to go Sue!

I came in reading this morning, looking for quality ...
my, my, my - did I ever find it in this thought~

'Upon my hand, the scent
right palm speaking
of underbrush and silt

Exactly how it smells after a rainfall.'

Thank you for being a poetess~

This is a beautifully fitted window that allows a glimpse of an entire universe.

Primeval, lush, gentle and savage, all at the same time.  Stunning and simple, and simply eternal.

Thanks for sharing this.

Sue, I don't blabber.  Blather, perhaps, but not blabber.  I only WISH I could get some good sleep.

Came back for a second read.  SEE...?

In the time before language
before we leaned
on this too inadequate idea
of grunting given meaning

There was a man
and a woman

Who knew
what the eyes spoke of

And could divine truth
from a touch

Most excellent, M'Love!

(smiles) Oh Sue, this is beautiful, sweet friend, I just love when those natural aromas fall upon us all and we can still smell that perfume through the day! It truly is the gift in the jasmine rain, the lilac afternoons and mint evenings! (kiss on cheek) God Bless You, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Sue, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!
