On Such Rainy Days

The writing's on the blue
and no matter how much I scrub,
it still comes through
just enough
to make me wince
when I feel the "river of time"
passing me by
flooding me with those feelings of
"forget-me-nots"
that I question, expecting
their days to be over,
season's changing,
drooping, my eyes and the last Hibiscus
wet with remnants of the night.

I held more love and faith
in those days I walked alongside you
than even words, or lips, or
anticipation could divulge
and I sleep less
when each night my armor comes down
and the shadows take their place
unweaving the threads of trust
that had been my comfort
on such rainy days.

Ignorant are my dreams
of the touch of you
no longer occupied by seduction
instead, missing that part of you,
that filled me with acceptance
that blended my moments
with silent worth
challenging me to each new day
to chance upon more,
more than I had painted
in a mind that felt forgotten.

M

MyDearFriend~
Is it fair to say that the rain becomes you ?
Well, it saturates you with such poignant saline thoughts ... this is beautifully moving~

I wrap the rain around me in umbrella'd thoughts of your making~

I do love the rain although we have been graced with an abundance of it this year...more than is neccessary.

And it does usually fit my mood

We were lucky in Florida...no rain at all during our stay.

Maureen, I echo what Marge and Chris said about your writing. Lady, if I were to copy and paste every part of your writings that were my favorite parts, I'd have the whole poem copied again in my replies to you!!! LOL It doesn't matter what subject you write about, you do it with excellence and grace. You are truly blessed with talent, my friend.
Hugs to you, sweet lady

Oh that verse tugs so hard at my heart...
This is a lovely poem, sad but true.
