Effortlessly time passes
as hands circle in an endless
race toward a new day, new
minute, fleeting seconds that
carry one on the journey to
the last tick of a beating heart.

Listening, feeling the uninterrupted
beat in a cadence so mesmerizing
to the ear as blood courses tissue
alive, yet slowly dying each tick
of both the clock and one’s heart.

When might the reaper’s shadow
fall upon the shoulder as an eyeless
face stares into one’s soul, counting
the beat of a heart before the last
breath ebbs slowly from blue lips
into the still air.

Let me live that my breath might
caress the ear of love, that my eyes
might gleam upon the sun’s rise
and that my voice might again and
again tell those I love...”I love you”

And then....let me die peacefully
upon the moor of ancient battle.
Beneath the great oak in the cool
earth.   That I might feed the oak
that cradles me, that I might
rest a warriors rest, gallantly.

Magnus~
You brought sweet tears-of-remember to these eyes~
With thoughts of my loving ~Warrior~ who made the trip of the moon-over journey, with a song in his heart~

Thank you for this beauty~
It's tenderly penned~

reminds me of that old sog about the clock...
But it stopped short, never to go again when the old man died...

Brings back too many memories though of the warriors I held hands with, as they finished their last battle...
..beautiful, though.

Always, Alyssa

Barry, this is absolutely beautiful.
As your writing always is. It's so
good to see you here, Sir.
