run away little darlin
run away little darlin
the dark fingers dance
   in the white picket fence
gotta leave your name
    in the fields

run faster little darlin
run faster little darlin
for the tall meadow grass
   is gonna catch your dress
and leave you sleeping
   in the fields

run farther little darlin
run farther little darlin
'cause it's hard to breathe
in the shadow of the trees
gotta leave them swaying
   in the fields

run river little darlin
run river little darlin
you can drown your scream
   where the water flows clean
and leave the sun empty
   in the fields

You had me dancing in the fields, swaying in the wind.
I especially liked how the sun emptied into them.

OH my...

you are a musician Bri...

this IS beautiful, but am I the only one who sensed some panic in this'n? A child trying to make it home before dark?

(egads do I know the feeling, but with ME it's sun-up! )

This is truly beautiful Bri. and I happen to know a pretty good blues band who lets ANYBODY sit it in, too.

I could hear the music in this, brian....and a nameless fear.  Very atmospheric.

Oh...this is just beautiful, Brian...a musician, indeed.

This begs to be read over and over again...I love it.

Hugs to you, friend...

You know I could almost see a Grandfather with a young child on his knee while he sang this song of warning to her.  I absolutely loved the image this gave to me, and yes Karen, I also saw a child running to make it somewhere, and now as you filled in the blanks, perhaps it was home.  Fabulous I saved it.
