is there a more
discrepant statement
then i believe
in god and country
if patriotism is pride
and pride is sin?
but then
religion and patriotism
are the same disease
the idolatry of demarcation
intellectual atrophy
en mass

Raph, no there isnt
I find it hard to believe in both
hypocritical even . . .
The choice is one or the other
or neither . . .
(remember Sueism)
got me thinking again

I believe in neither. But that's just me...Brutaly honest. Like your critique message says. But I liked this and what it was saying. I am not going to say anything bratty.

"the idolatry of demarcation"
hmmmmm
Interesting.
I had not thought of it quite like that, in such a compartmented way, or perhaps you meant as "a line in the sand".
Either way, I understand, though I think it falls a little short.
Though trite, I might say "self-righteous".  You know, "I'm somebody and you're nobody", rather than "we're different".  It has the insidious way of keeping the faithful, well, faithful.
Seems to be our attempted foreign policy these days, no?

Well, shucks, I'm getting too far off the poetry?
Enjoying your work.  Keep it up.

And well ummm if patriotism is a sin...then consider me one hell of a wacked Canuck then cause Canada kicks A**

Intellectually I know that Canada is no better than any other country. Emotionally I KNOW that Canada is the best country in the world!

How about:  "Eminent Domain"?  or:  "Equal opportunity employer"?  Or hell, how about:  "Be all that you can be?"  (I could go on...)

Kudos, by the way, for the insight and outcry.
