When you were growing up
oh how I miss those days
You with your sweet disposition
and all your winning ways

We used to play together
with all your dolls and toys
Since you are my only child
you were not around many girls and boys

I taught you how to dance
and how to twirl a baton
To throw it way up in the air
then catch most but sometimes miss one

When you became a teenager
you talked to me about most everything
We joked around and laughed a lot
and together we would sing

We became so very close
like two sisters we would talk
We loved to go to the malls
to just look around and walk

Or we would go to the beach
to swim and lay out in the sun
You would get a real nice tan
but I would get a sunburn

Now you are gone far away from home
with children of your own
But you will always be my little girl
no matter how much you have grown

awwwww Ethel, you brought tears to my eyes .... this is so lovely, sweetly melancholic .... and it touches me much as my daughter too lives far away right now and I do miss her.
She always says to me that I think of her like a child and she reminds me that she is grown up, an adult. But for us Mothers it's different, we know, but in our hearts the tenderness is always the same.
Love and hugs. Margherita

Ah Ethel how sweet this is!
And how I can relate!
Although my daughter lives in town with children of her own..
she may be all grown up but she will forever
be my little girl and I will worry about her.
~Soft smiles & hugs, Nancy~

They grow up and go away so fast!

We try to take it all in, and not miss a thing because we know one day that they will leave the nest and start a life all their own!

Wonderful write!

I know the feeling well,  I have one that
is grown as well as one daughter that is
10...watching her grow is such a priceless
treasure...and it is so touching being
"Daddy"....

I find this writing to be very touching. Something all mothers feel. Our memories are all we have when we sit alone remembering when they were under our wing . But all must fly. We wouldn't want it any other way.

(big hugggsssssssss) Oh Ethel, this brought many tears to my eyes, dearest friend, though I have yet to be a parent, I dream of being one when the time is right and getting to each day cherish all the special memories, as though I could choose not to have any kids and not have to feel this kind of sentimental feeling, I want to bring more love into my life and have more special memories to share! (wipes tears) God Bless You, sweet friend, I understand your sweet sorrow but know always your daughter will always be your little girl and will never forget you and will always love to spend time with you when she can, God Bless You, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Ethel, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Oh Ethel, I have tears in my eyes.  I have two little girls at home with me,  a 12 year old and a 4 year old.  So, this one truly touched my heart.  As soon as they come home (they are with their dad today) I am going to read this to them.

Just lovely!

Hello Ethel

I too have only one child, though I planned to have another.  Some things just don't work out but I am so grateful that I was able to have one, who I love dearly. Your words were so very moving and so very much enjoyed.

Take care......Sue
