You cant see what's inside, I refuse to share that part of me.
I don't think you'd appreciate the scars, or the person I've come to be.

You see only a body, and a smile that I've trained exceptionally well.
To fool the world into thinking that I've escaped my inner hell.

I've known your kind before, how do you think I got the burns?
I've been naive in the past, carrying a heart that never learns.

I'm not pushing you away because I want too, but I have nothing to give.

Go ahead and say, what you think you must...
Wasting your time and effort, on a heart that can't yet trust.

I've spent too much time chasing shadows, only to find that they weren't real.
I need to be alone a while.Give this heart time to heal.

I wish I could have told a few women this and cut them off at the pass...women that tell me they love me to quick are scary...I suppose I've scared a few myself...James
