My Gift

Sprawling limbs beg for life.
Deep eyes gaze at a brave new world.
The separation knife
Blurs my thoughts while they swirl.

Am I not one with her?
What are these foreign slaves of mind
That seemingly concur
With these desires I now find.

I'm free, a tiny sponge.
I stare, observe, and do not cry.
All my pain is expunged.
In loving arms, nurtured I lie.

What is this bright new place?
I wouldn't dare to ask myself.
Bare, I stare at her face,
In her I know I'll find help.

Maybe I'll take my time
In this new life, as with my birth.
With bright eyes, I will find
My way around this foreign Earth.

But now I smile, thoughtless,
Basked in her love and affection.
If I die, regardless,
This life will hold its direction

Of love given to me.
I will give to my own lover.
Someday, our own baby.
Will have Love and He find each other.

Davidmerriman....interesting view from newborn.  To try to put yourself into that place of such change, is not easy..I think you did it well.
