All of Life Speaks for Itself

Life honors death and death honors life
Though in your death, you do not speak,
Yet the season’s breezes are whistling the joyful melodies of you

For even from a silent rose
Still the petal scent of pleasure flows
And permeates this paper sachet with its fragrances

Life speaks not of death, and death speaks not of life
Yet the living rose will die and in its death, remains alive

All of life speaks for itself
Therefore I cannot write of either life , nor its purpose
For the purpose of life is unveiled in the unfolding of each season of existence
And its infinite spectrum cannot be scrolled in black ink
On a one-dimensional page

The splendors of life are gathered in the human eye as wealth
But the eye cannot evaluate the meaning of its harvest

And so I throw this paper to the wind
And relinquish my poet pen to you, the rose
As you reach for the sun, growing ever taller
Ever stronger, your petals more beauteous than in
The season past, and in your silence you reveal
God’s secrets understood by nature
The intricate web of all of life, synchronized in
Timeless beauty,
Each leaf, each creature of the sea, each child
One dependant on the other to sustain itself
For future generations, the ones who will be
Taught and nurtured

So that with each rebirth comes the longing
To rise a little higher
To love more deeply
To have more compassion,
To honor and to respect
To give of oneself

The purpose of life remains in
The fragrance of a flower
Which will wither and be born again
To complete its mission, its honored role
And as man contemplates the mysteries of life
He continues to gather its splendors in his eyes
But fails to evaluate the meaning of his harvest

Elizabeth,
Life will always be a mystery to me. For whole species die and we know not why. But then who am I? For me there is the moment and moments and they have been sad without your excellent poetry. I missed you and pray you are well. Sy

Liz, this was so touching. I see life as a gift, one that is fleeting and one that we should cherish and enjoy to our fullest.

Hugs sweet friend, Marti

(sigh) Oh Elizabeth, I truly believe it is never worth writing about life and death, what's important is that we live it and let the words write themselves or all it feels like is we are looking at a photograph all the time, you've got to rise and dance! (kiss on cheek) God Bless You, sweet friend, this is wonderful, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Elizabeth, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!
